Department of Communication Engineering

Introduction to the Department

The Department of Communication Engineering was established in the 2002 academic year and was the former "Communication Division, Department of Electronic Engineering". In its initial founding, it was the "Department of Telecoms Engineering" and then renamed "Department of Communication Engineering" in the 2003 academic year. In the same year, the "Research Institute of Information and Communication Engineering" was established to recruit postgraduate students. In the 2018 academic year, it was renamed the "Department of Communication Engineering Master's Degree Program". The student recruitment structure has gradually stabilized after many adjustments. Today, one class of master's program students and two classes of the four-year full-time undergraduate program students are recruited each year. The students of the four-year program are mainly from vocational high school departments of electronics, information, electrical engineering, power machinery, etc.

The department has always worked towards the departmental development goals of cultivating communication talents sought after by the industry and the research and development of innovative and practical application technologies. Through many meetings and exchanges with the industry, "Microwave Communication System" and "Multimedia Communication" are the two major development directions of the department at this stage. Curriculum planning, laboratory construction, equipment procurement, special project research and industry-university collaboration are also geared toward these two aspects, to ensure that students' knowledge and department development can be improved. We hope to further cultivate first-class R&D talents and enhance the competitiveness of the domestic communication industry.
